Outspoken country music stars the Dixie Chicks are being sued for libel and defamation by the stepfather of one of three 8-year-old Arkansas boys murdered 15 years ago. Plaintiff Terry Hobbs claims Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines accused him of the murders at a Little Rock rally in support of the three men already convicted of the crime, reports the Arkansas Business Journal.
The lawsuit complains similar "malicious, libelous, slanderous, and false statements" about Hobbs are posted on the band's website. The Dixie Chicks and other celebrities became involved in the sensational murder case after a documentary claimed three men found guilty of the crimes are innocent.
