Harry Potter's saga may be done, but author JK Rowling's new book proves she's still a master storyteller. Her "charming" Tales of Beedle the Bard reveals anew that Rowling is a "genius with words, blessed with wisdom, a sly wit and an effortless prose style," writes Deirdre Donahue in USA Today

With this slim volume—a collection of five stories with commentary by Albus Dumbledore—Rowling joins the ranks of genuine fairy-tale creators, writes Amanda Craig in the London Times. "All of these tales—funny, sinister, wise, and captivating—could have come new-minted from the Brothers Grimm." Less impressed is Sameer Rahim of the Telegraph, who thinks the book would be "unremarkable" if not for the Potter legacy.
