Commandos End Mumbai Hotel Siege

Indian commandos have ended a standoff at Mumbai's Oberoi hotel and freed some 200 hostages, Bloomberg reports. Two terrorists were killed. The military is still fighting to flush out terrorist gunmen in other parts of the city. Up to four terrorists are still holed up with hostages at the Taj Hotel. Commandos earlier abseiled onto the roof of a Jewish center seized by attackers, but the results of that action were still unclear.

Many bodies are being found in buildings attacked by the terrorists and the death toll of 130 is expected to rise sharply, reports the BBC. Thirty bodies were recovered from a corridor in the Taj. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh addressed the nation and vowed to go after the individuals and organizations behind the attacks. A previously unknown group called the Deccan Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
