Even as the cash registers were still clanging on Twilight's monstrous opening weekend, the teen vampire flick's producers confirmed that a sequel is on, says MTV News. New Moon, the second book in Stephanie Meyer's series, is now officially set to be adapted for the big screen. Twilight is on track to hit $60 million this weekend, and looks likely to become the highest-grossing female-directed flick, and vampire film, of all time.
"I don't think any other author has had a more positive experience with the makers of her movie adaptation than I have had," Meyer said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to have the chance to work with them again on New Moon." (More Twilight stories.)
