The Denver Broncos ruined the long-awaited NFL debut of Brady Quinn tonight with a 34-30 comeback win over the Cleveland Browns, the Plain Dealer reports. The former Notre Dame star played well—he threw for 239 yards and 2 touchdowns in front of the faithful Dawg Pound, and he led a TD drive in the fourth quarter that gave his team a fleeting lead. But the Browns defense surrendered a double-digit lead in the second half for the second consecutive week.
The Broncos took the lead for good with 1:14 left when Jay Cutler threw an 11-yard TD pass to Brandon Marshall. The second-year Quinn, who replaced Derek Anderson as the starting QB this week after the team's 3-5 start, could not stage a late miracle. Cleveland's long-suffering fans hope Quinn will be a franchise quarterback who will lead the Browns back to glory. There's always next week.
