Take a long hard look at our political elite, suggests Daniel Henninger in the Wall Street Journal, and ask yourself: Are these guys really out of Sarah Palin’s league? “Behold the shabby frat house that says it's above her pay grade.” Given a choice between members of the 12%-approval-rating Congress and Palin, Henninger chooses Palin.
He catalogs Palin put-downs from pundits on both sides of the aisle, from "Caribou Barbie" to "a fatal cancer to the Republican Party," and concludes: “There is a left-to-right elite centered in New York, Washington, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley who hand down judgments of the nation's mortals from their perch atop the Bell Curve.” Henninger finds a surprising ally in SNL producer Lorne Michaels, who said after her appearance Saturday, "I think Palin will continue to be underestimated for a while. I watched the way she connected with people, and she's powerful."
