An injured Oregon hiker was finally found after five days surviving in the woods by drinking from mountain creeks and eating centipedes. "He's a tough bugger," said his relieved mom yesterday. Derek Mamoyac, 27, scooted part of the way down Washington's second-highest mountain last week in a bid to get back to civilization after he hurt his ankle during what was supposed to be a one-day hike on Mount Adams.

Rescuers were losing hope in the 20-degree cold when a search dog finally found him. Mamoyac is recovering in a local hospital, suffering from dehydration, frostbite on both feet and his buttocks, a broken right ankle, and swollen leg. (More Oregon stories.)
