An Episcopal priest who also practices Islam will likely be defrocked, the Seattle Times reports. "I'm still following Jesus in being a Muslim," said Ann Holmes Redding, who has been a priest for almost 25 years. "I have not abandoned that." But the local bishop says that unless she denies her Muslim faith or resigns from the priesthood, Redding will be stripped of her vestments.
Redding expressed sadness “that this could not be an opportunity” for a reconciliation between the faiths. The priest said embracing Islam was “like falling in love...you want to get on a rooftop and start shouting.” And she rejects the notion that she broke her ordination vows, saying, "I feel privileged to see God in more places, rather than fewer places."
