A Fox remake of British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous will swill its way into Los Angeles, reports Variety. Creator Jennifer Saunders, who played one half of the delightfully boozy and dysfunctional 40-something duo, is on board as executive producer; Saturday Night Live writer Christine Zander will pen the initial set of scripts. It's the second US go-round for the show; an attempted redo by Roseanne Barr and Carrie Fisher never passed the pilot stage.
"The trouble with doing Ab Fab in America is that it will have to end with Edina and Saffy hugging, Patsy giving up drink and drugs, and them all hugging mum. It won't work. It'll be too nice," said the producer of the BBC original. "Let's hope they get it right." (More Absolutely Fabulous stories.)
