If The Office has made Scranton, Pa. cool, Saturday Night Live took it down a notch in a vice-presidential debate sketch this weekend, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reports. Playing Joe Biden, actor Jason Sudeikis staked his outsider status on "hard scrabble" Scranton, saying, "You'll see, it's a hell hole. An absolute jerkwater of a town. You couldn't stand to spend a weekend there."

The stab was sharp enough to elicit a reaction from the office of ex-Scranton resident, Sen. Bob Casey Jr., who saw the skit. "Scranton is a city with a rich culture and history," his press secretary said, "so Saturday Night Live was clearly inaccurate in its portrayal." (More Saturday Night Live stories.)
