The “Money Honey” versus the “Street Sweetie” makes for great headlines, but reports of catfighting between CNBC anchors Maria Bartiromo and Erin Burnett are way overstated, Suzanna Andrews writes in Vanity Fair. “There is not a rivalry,” says Bartiromo, who suggests that the rumors may stem from CNBC itself as a vehicle for drumming up ratings.
The real issue, argue both anchors, is the bimbofication of the trading floor by the parade of second-rate copy-cats trotted out by Fox Business News. “It's more than prancing around the Stock Exchange with little dresses on,” rants Bartimoro, whose must-see Closing Bell is just one of many ventures. “If you don't have the goods you will not last.” (More CNBC stories.)
