Count Dracula's Castle, complete with screeching bats, is up for sale—for a mere $135 million stake. Officially known as Bran Castle, the 700-year-old Transylvanian abode has only a tenuous link to Prince Vlad the Impaler, the bloodthirsty inspiration for writer Bram Stoker's legendary villain, but has became a major tourist attraction with 450,000 annual visitors.
The castle was returned to the Habsburg family by the Romanian government after the fall of Communism. The current owner is a New York architect and Hapsburg heir, who wants a new buyer to "respect the property and history" of the castle, built to defend against the Turks. Vlad, who tortured his enemies, spent a night there in the 1400s. (More Bram Stoker stories.)
