Volt's Looks Kill Some GM Buzz
Fans say they liked the aggressive design of the the Chevrolet Volt concept car, seen here, than that of what ended up as the production model, unveiled today.   (AP Photo)

GM offered its first official look today at the plug-in Chevrolet Volt, CNNMoney reports, the electric car slated to go on sale in 2010. Its tame appearance drew the ire of gearheads hoping it would look more like the futuristic concept version. "A lot of people are saying they're very disappointed and 'take me off the [waiting] list,' " said one blogger.

But they can't argue with the economics. GM says the Volt will cost 2 cents a mile to drive to 12 at current gas prices. It runs solely on electricity—charge it in a regular outlet and you can drive 40 miles. It also has a small gas engine that replenishes batteries. GM didn't say how much the car will cost.
