Hollywood's Righties See Star Quality in Palin
"She's certainly got star appeal and is the kind of candidate that is made for Hollywood. I offered to throw her a fundraiser myself," MGM chief Harry Sloan said of Sarah Palin.   (AP Photo)

Much of Hollywood may lean leftward, but Sarah Palin has the conservatives in town dreaming of capitalizing on the Alaska governor’s overnight popularity, Reuters reports. Palin’s “the kind of candidate that is made for Hollywood,” says MGM chief Harry Sloan, a vocal Republican. “She’s certainly got star appeal.” Sloan added that he might hold a fundraiser for the vice-presidential candidate.

Of course, Hollywood fundraisers have typically been Democratic territory, and some observers think Palin will actually mobilize greater support for Barack Obama. Next week, Barbara Streisand will sing at an event expected to raise up to $9 million for the Democrat. “It's like 10 to 1 here,” said one analyst of the liberal/conservative ratio, and the Republicans are “just not as outspoken.” (More Sarah Palin stories.)
