Palin's Female Fans Not Confined to Right

The crowds turning out for Sarah Palin show that the vice-presidential candidate is pulling her main support from conservative women. But she has also gained some followers who, though they identify as independents or Democrats, are "fed up with a man's world," the Washington Post reports. While some call Palin just another Republican cultural warrior, others are inspired.

"I wouldn't even call it a Palin movement, I'd call it a sleeping giant that has been awakened," said one Republican Palin fan. Feeling that traditional feminist groups "don't represent" the interests of women who "love our country and our families first," such women have shown their excitement at finding a figure with whom they identify.
