The country to go to eat is ... Spain. Six Spanish restaurants have landed on the 2024 list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants, revealed Wednesday at a ceremony in Las Vegas, including three in the top five. Chief among them: Barcelona's Disfrutar, which placed second in 2023 and third in 2022 and now takes the crown due in part to its "famously indulgent caviar-filled Panchino doughnut." "The combination of brilliantly imaginative dishes, unsurpassed technical mastery, and playful presentation results in the dining experience of a lifetime, as full of surprises as it is memories," according to a statement. This leaves little doubt that "Spain remains the fine dining center of the world," per CNN. The best restaurant in North America, however, is found in New York City. The top 10 globally:
- Disfrutar in Barcelona, Spain
- Asador Etxebarri in Atxondo, Spain
- Table by Bruno Verjus in Paris
- DiverXO in Madrid
- Maido in Lima, Peru
- Atomix in New York City
- Quintonil in Mexico City
- Alchemist in Copenhagen
- Gaggan in Bangkok
- Don Julio in Buenos Aires, Argentina
