Sean "Diddy" Combs said Sunday that "my behavior on that video is inexcusable," after CNN aired 2016 surveillance footage two days before that appears to show him physically attacking Cassie Ventura, a singer who was his girlfriend at the time. Combs said he takes responsibility for his actions, per the Hollywood Reporter. "I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now," the rapper says in a video posted on Instagram and Facebook.
The music mogul says he had hit rock bottom at the time and later started therapy and rehab. "But I make no excuses," he says. Adding that he appealed to God, Diddy says: "I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry." He makes no mention of Ventura in his statement. This was Combs' most direct response yet to the allegations against him, per the AP; previous responses were released through his lawyers. Los Angeles County prosecutors said Friday they could not bring a criminal case against Combs because the statute of limitations on the relevant charges has expired. (More Diddy stories.)
