Liam Neeson had already committed to an upcoming reboot of The Naked Gun, but another big name has jumped on board the project. Pamela Anderson of Baywatch fame will star as Neeson's love interest in the remake directed by The Lonely Island's Akiva Schaffer, "in a role mixing sexiness and goofiness similar to the one originated by Priscilla Presley," reports the Guardian. Neeson, meanwhile, is reprising the role of charmingly inept police detective Frank Drebin, originally played by the late Leslie Nielsen.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that details on the script—penned by Schaffer, Dan Gregor, and Doug Mand, the trio behind 2022's Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers—are "being locked away with other police files," other than revealing that Neeson will play Drebin. Last month, Neeson confessed to being "slightly nervous" at taking on the iconic role and doing comedy, per USA Today. "But it's a good script," he told ComingSoon.net. "There's some very funny, laugh-out-loud moments." The Paramount Pictures film currently has a release date of July 2025. (More Naked Gun stories.)
