Like Darth Vader striking down Obi-Wan, the Newser Ninjas bowling team shut out the HighBeam Highlanders in the first annual HighBeam Subsidiary Bowling Tournament of Champions. The tournament was to be a best-of-three matchup, but the Ninjas only needed two rounds to finish the job, scoring more than 1,000 points during regulation play. The Highlanders, the heavy favorite, struggled to surpass 900.
The crowd turned early and often. "I'm cheering for Newser now!" remarked the HighBeam Research CEO after a particularly savvy spare by the Ninja team. When it was clear that the Ninjas would win, the HighBeam office administrator (shared by Newser) was heard saying "I should have played for the Newser team." Consistent play by all Ninja team members clinched this startup's place in history. (More bowling stories.)
