Barack Obama has arrived in Paris, where the candidate is holding talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy before a joint news conference. Sarkozy rushed back from a summit in the southwest of France to meet Obama at the presidential palace, reports AP. The two first met in 2006 when Sarkozy was running for president and visited Washington.
"Obama? He's my pal," Sarkozy told a French newspaper in an interview today. The president added that he was not surpised by the senator's primary victory. "Unlike my diplomatic advisers, I never believed in Hillary Clinton's chances. I always said that Obama would be nominated," he remarked. Obama is only spending a few hours in Paris, and leaves this evening for London. (More Nicolas Sarkozy stories.)
