Celebrities—they're just like us! They, too, leave important items in their car that can get lifted when someone breaks in, as Lana Del Rey recently found out. Deadline reports that the 37-year-old Video Games singer revealed on Wednesday in a series of Instagram videos that earlier this year, her car got broken into after she stepped away "for a minute" from the spot where it was parked on Los Angeles' Melrose Place. Inside the vehicle was a knapsack that held her laptop, three camcorders, and multiple hard drives, which all ended up in the hands of the thief or thieves.
"The one time I left my backpack inside my car, someone broke all of the windows and took it," Del Rey says of her boosted bag. Among the items stored on the stolen devices: video of her family, as well as 200 pages of a book she'd been working on for Simon & Schuster, which she admitted she hadn't backed up to the cloud. "I had to remotely wipe the computer," she notes, adding that some of her personal pics and songs were leaked and are now circulating online.
Del Rey is now begging fans who might stumble upon any of her leaked content to turn away when they see it, per Pitchfork. "Please don't listen to the music if you hear it because it's not coming out yet," she says, noting she's faced similar challenges at keeping her personal belongings safe at home. As for her lost manuscript: "I loved the book that I lost with all of my heart and put a lot of passion into it." Del Rey has since deleted the videos, in which she concluded: "Obviously I won't ever leave anything in the car again, even if it's just for a moment." (More Lana Del Rey stories.)
