Vasectomy Is Young Man's Pill

Once exclusive to the over-40 crowd, vasectomies are increasingly popular among young men who want condom-free sex and no fears of Daddydom. But there's also a control component, writes Richard Morgan in Details: These men are taking charge of birth control, not leaving it up to the woman. "I don't have to worry about being tricked," says one snipped man.

And they don't worry about the fact that nearly half of all US pregnancies are accidental: "It's like eating junk food and knowing you're not going to get fat," one said. But not all stick to the vasectomy diet: About 6% end up having reversals. The trouble is, about 20% of reversals fail, and the longer a man waits after being snipped, the more likely he will never be fertile again. (More pregnancy stories.)
