Israel to US: Iran Threat Bigger Than You Think

In the wake of Iranian missile tests, Israel’s defense minister will visit the US for talks next week to press the case that Tehran poses a serious nuclear threat, the Jerusalem Post reports. Yesterday, Ehud Barak suggested that Israel is ready to attack. "We have proven in the past that we are not deterred from acting when our vital interests are at stake."

Barak’s trip is part of a recent series of visits by Israeli officials; Israel is hoping to push its belief that the danger posed by Iran is more imminent than the US has acknowledged, sources say. US officials are at odds over Iran, with Dick Cheney supporting military action and defense secretary Robert Gates opposing the idea. (More Israel stories.)
