Big-money supporters of Hillary Clinton angry over her treatment during the Democratic primaries are slow to back presumptive nominee Barack Obama, the Wall Street Journal reports. A recent poll shows only 54% of Clinton voters plan to support Obama; recent analysis of donors who gave $1,000 or more to Clinton shows as many gave to Republican John McCain as to Obama since she left.
Clinton fans are furious at the media for its sexist treatment of their candidate, and they blame Sen. Obama and Democratic party leaders for not doing more to stop it. Obama's run could face a serious hurdle financially if he does not woo Clinton backers. "Not voting Democratic would be really hard," says one HillRaiser. "But I am not a happy camper."
