The vaccination pace is picking up speed in America, with the White House on Saturday confirming that more than 4 million vaccines were administered in a 24-hour period for the first time. CNN puts the number at 4,081,959 doses, and says that brings the 7-day average to 3,072,527 doses—the first time the 3 million mark has been passed. In 109 days of vaccinations, some 104 million Americans have received a shot, with 59 million of them being fully vaccinated. That's about 30% of the population, reports the AP. Experts says we need to hit between 75% and 85% of all Americans, not just adults, to reach herd immunity.
The CDC's vaccination tracker does look at those numbers by age group: 40.1% of adult Americans have gotten at least one dose. For those 65+, the figure is 75%. The AP reports vaccine reluctance is slowly lessening. In a January AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll, 33% of adult Americans said they probably or definitely would not get vaccinated.
