Dominion Goes After Giuliani in Massive New $1.3B Lawsuit

Dominion Voting Systems isn't playing around. The election technology firm sued lawyer and Trump ally Sidney Powell in early January, followed by a threat to sue MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, over false claims that its voting machines were rigged to shift votes from Donald Trump to Joe Biden. Now the company has a new complaint against another Trump surrogate: attorney Rudy Giuliani, who's being sued for $1.3 billion in damages for defamation, per Axios. The 107-page suit filed Monday in DC's US District Court slams Giuliani for his "demonstrably false" allegations, accusing him of helping to "[manufacture] and [disseminate] the 'Big Lie,' which foreseeably went viral and deceived millions of people into believing that Dominion had stolen their votes and fixed the election."

The suit—based on dozens of statements Giuliani made online, at legislative hearings, in conservative media, and on his own podcast—says Giuliani didn't even mention Dominion in a court hearing last year about Pennsylvania's election results, ostensibly to avoid making a false statement about fraud in court, per the New York Times. The complaint alleges his remarks left Dominion open "to the most extreme hatred and contempt." Because of Giuliani's comments, the company claims, "Dominion employees have been stalked, have been harassed, and have received death threats ... Dominion has lost profits; and Dominion's reputation has been irreparably damaged." The suit adds that Giuliani worked with Lou Dobbs, Newsmax, Fox News, and OANN, among others, to get his false message out, and a company attorney tells the Times "there will certainly be [other]" suits.
