A US Capitol Police officer who collapsed after Wednesday's riot at the Capitol building has died, the force says in a statement. The 40-year-old, a 15-year veteran of the force, was placed on life support and died Thursday night. Outlets including WUSA9 report he suffered a stroke during the riot, but CNN and the official statement indicate he was injured during the riot and later collapsed. Four others died amid the violent storming of the building, a woman named Ashli Babbit who was shot by Capitol Police and three others who suffered medical emergencies. More than 50 police officers, including those from both the Capitol force and the Washington, DC, force, were injured. (More Capitol Police stories.)
