Cheney May Have Told Libby to Out Plame

"Scooter” Libby told the FBI it was “possible” that Dick Cheney ordered him to out CIA agent Valerie Plame to the press, the Washington Post reports. The revelation appears in a redacted FBI report under examination by a House panel led by Henry Waxman. The panel now wants the FBI to turn over more files, including interviews with Cheney and President Bush.

In a letter to the attorney general, Waxman says Scott McClellan’s book makes the files critical. McClellan wrote that "the top White House officials who knew the truth—including Rove, Libby, and possibly Vice President Cheney—allowed me, even encouraged me, to repeat a lie" about Libby's innocence. Waxman says "it would be a major breach of trust if the vice president personally directed Mr. McClellan to mislead the public.” (More Dick Cheney stories.)
