Baseball's top umpire says instant replay is on the way, the Houston Chronicle reports. Support for it is growing after four blown calls robbed home runs, but umpire supervisor Rich Rieker warns that the technology must be added "in a fashion that will not delay the game further."

Still, he admits that "replay could slow down the game, but it could also eliminate unneccesary arguments. So there might be a canceling effect." In the off-season, baseball's GMs voted overwhelmingly to use replays to confirm home-run calls. (More Rich Rieker stories.)
