The shocking murder of Dr. Amie Harwick, a family and sex therapist once engaged to The Price Is Right host Drew Carey, has gotten lots of coverage over the past few days, but one report on her death is now drawing backlash. Per People, on Monday during The Wendy Williams Show, the namesake host informed a gasping audience about Harwick's death, as well as the gruesome way she died (by falling from a third-floor balcony). Then, a cringier moment. After telling the crowd that Harwick was killed "not by Drew," Williams inexplicably added, "Come on down!"—a Price Is Right catchphrase—then moved her gaze from up high down to the floor, as if watching someone fall. ETOnline.com reports that, besides groans, there was mostly silence from Williams' audience; the site also notes that at one point Williams incorrectly calls Harwick "Hardwick."

Pushback against Williams quickly emerged online. "I KNOW #WendyWilliams did NOT just make a 'come on down' joke about Drew Carey's ex-fiancee getting killed by being thrown off of a third floor balcony !!!!" one shocked viewer posted. Some are even calling for her firing. "Ya'll know I HATE 'cancel culture' but can someone please cancel @WendyWilliams she is truly problematic," another commenter noted. Per NBC News, this is the second time in a week Williams has found herself at the center of controversy: Last week, while telling men they didn't understand the "rules" of Galentine's Day, she added, "I don't care if you're gay. ... And stop wearing our skirts and our heels. ... Just sayin' girls, what do we have for ourselves?" Williams has since apologized for those comments. (More Wendy Williams stories.)
