Virginia state police called to the site of a one-car crash on an isolated highway in the middle of the night found the bodies of an 18-year-old woman and 21-year-old man who'd been shot in the head. Troopers discovered the bodies early Saturday morning of Ayanna Maertens Griffin and her boyfriend, Ntombo Joel Bianda, near Bianda's car, which had hit the median, per People. The spot is on Route 58, about 10 miles from the North Carolina border—"fairly isolated and not heavily traveled in the overnight hours," a release said.
"We are exploring multiple possibilities," state police said, "to include there being a second vehicle involved." The couple lived in Alexandria. Griffin was taking computer science classes, her mother said, per WSC. "Even through the worst of days, she would light up, you know, anyone's face if they were having a rough day," she said. "Beautiful personality. Beautiful human." (More double homicide stories.)
