This is a "happy period" for Republicans because "we call this impeachment light," President Trump told an enthusiastic crowd at a rally in Iowa Thursday night, declaring that America is going through a golden age despite "deranged" congressional Democrats. "We're having probably the best years that we’ve ever had in our country, and I just got impeached!" Trump said at the Des Moines, Iowa, rally, per the Hill. "Can you believe these people? I got impeached. They impeached Trump," Trump said, speaking while his trial was still underway in the Senate. The president, addressing a capacity crowd at the Knapp Center on the Drake University campus, slammed the "lunacy and the madness of the totally sick left" and said he believes he will win all 50 states in November, the Des Moines Register reports.
Trump, who predicted that Senate Republicans would treat him "very fairly," denounced House Democrats including "sick puppy" Rep. Adam Schiff, the lead impeachment manager. "They don’t love our country. I swear they don’t," Trump said. "We have to take back the House of Representatives. We have to." He also warned that under the Green New Deal, Democrats "want to kill our cows. That means you're next." As always, the president mocked Hillary Clinton, as well as more current political rivals, the Guardian reports. "Let’s vote for Pocahontas, let's vote for Bernie, let’s vote for Sleepy Joe—he's fallen asleep," Trump said. The president also poked fun at Pete Buttigieg. "They call him Mayor Pete. You know why? Nobody can pronounce his name," Trump said. (More President Trump stories.)
