The Grammy Awards telecast is typically chock-full of performances and skimpy on actual awards handed out (dozens of them are given out before the televised ceremony begins), and Sunday night's 2020 ceremony was no different: After Lizzo opened the show, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performed; Alicia Keys did a musical monologue; the Jonas Brothers performed; and finally, thirty minutes in, an award was handed out: Lizzo won for best pop solo performance. Next up? Another performance, of course, this one from Tyler, the Creator. And then:
- The ceremony's second award, best country duo/group performance, went to Dan + Shay for "Speechless."
- Usher then took the stage with a Prince tribute.
- Camila Cabello performed, singing directly to her father in the audience.
- The next performance was from Tanya Tucker, who then presented the best comedy album award (alongside Brandi Carlile) to Dave Chappelle, who was not in attendance.
- Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and brother Finneas, and Aerosmith then performed.
- Tyler, the Creator won best rap album.
