Michelle Obama is collaborating with college students for a new show on IGTV, Instagram's app for longform videos. Media company ATTN: is producing the six-episode series, A Year of Firsts, which will follow four first-year college students from across the country. "Each of them has overcome tremendous odds to get where they are," Obama says in a preview shared Tuesday. "By sharing their stories, they're helping others see that the ups and downs of the first year of college are something everyone goes through—and they're creating a supportive community for others facing similar challenges," she adds, per the Hill.
The series, which will begin airing later this month and run until the end of June, is a part of Obama's Reach Higher Initiative, which encourages students to pursue post-secondary eduction. "We're thrilled to be partnering with Mrs. Obama and Reach Higher to engage and inspire students to invest in themselves," ATTN: co-founder Matthew Segal says, per the Hollywood Reporter. The company previously worked with Joe Biden on a 10-episode series on IGTV called Here's the Deal, which tackled various issues of importance to young Americans ahead of the 2018 midterms, per Deadline.
