An evangelical magazine's denunciation of President Trump apparently struck a nerve. Trump lashed back at Christianity Today Friday morning, and he has followed up with another criticism in the afternoon. "I guess the magazine, 'Christianity Today,' is looking for Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, or those of the socialist/communist bent, to guard their religion," he tweeted. "How about Sleepy Joe? The fact is, no President has ever done what I have done for Evangelicals, or religion itself!" The magazine, founded by the late Billy Graham, called Trump "immoral" and said he should be removed from office. In his afternoon tweets, Trump also thanked Graham's son for his support, after Franklin Graham criticized the editorial and said his father never would have approved it.

Meanwhile, the Hill reports that Franklin (who, like Trump, accused the magazine of moving to the left) isn't the only prominent evangelical coming to Trump's defense. Jerry Falwell accused the magazine of being run by "liberal evangelicals" who wanted Hillary Clinton to win in 2016. The magazine, meanwhile, is apparently anticipating the backlash and trying to capitalize. "In the event that the President's tweets sent you here," reads a tweet, which then directs readers to the original editorial. (In November, Trump met privately with more than two dozen evangelical leaders, who expressed their support for him amid the impeachment process.)
