Texas mom Heidi Broussard and her weeks-old daughter haven't been seen since the morning of Dec. 12, when the 33-year-old dropped her 6-year-old son off at an Austin elementary school. Now, there appears to be a tragic development after police and FBI agents descended upon a home in Harris County Thursday evening. ABC13 was on the scene when it says dozens of law enforcement officials entered the residence near Jersey Village. The outlet reports a one-month-old girl was retrieved alive from the home and taken by ambulance to a hospital; the medical examiner's office also reportedly removed a body.
Broussard's mother, Tammy Broussard, tells NBC News that cops told her a body found in a car trunk is likely her daughter, though official verification is still needed. She says police also told her that granddaughter Margot Carey is in good condition. Although the FBI did confirm it was on the premises at the home in question, it didn't elaborate; Austin police, also said to have been on the scene with officers from the Texas Rangers and Department of Public Safety, didn't respond to requests for comment. Heidi Broussard's boyfriend, Shane Carey, who's also Margot's father, says he came home on Dec. 12 to find Broussard's car there, but not her or the baby. (More missing woman stories.)
