Chicago police are investigating whether Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy was the target of a shooting in which a bullet was fired through his door. Tweedy was at home with his wife—their two sons were out—around 2am Tuesday when the pair heard "seven loud gunshots," police rep Anthony Guglielimi tells the Chicago Tribune. He describes what "appeared to be bullet holes" in an upper balcony of the Irving Park home as well as a "large bullet hole" in a glass door. "A bullet went through the storm door to our balcony and lodged in the wooden door [behind]," Susan Miller Tweedy wrote in a Facebook post, per the Guardian.
A neighbor tells the Tribune that the door leads to a bedroom. "I was afraid to go to bed last night. This never, never ever happens," the person adds, describing the neighbourhood as "very safe." But Tweedy's son, Spencer, doesn't believe his family was targeted, per the Guardian. "There's no indication that [Tweedy] was targeted, but detectives are going through that," says Guglielmi. A second neighbor tells the Tribune that the Grammy-winning musician who later found seven shell casings in the street is not one to showboat. "He's got all this, his fame and whatever, and he's out there cleaning the gutter," the person says. (More Chicago stories.)
