An ethics investigation could await Rep. Devin Nunes after an allegation surfaced that the Republican met with a former Ukranian prosecutor in an attempt to dig up damaging information about Joe Biden. An attorney for Lev Parnas said the ex-prosecutor told Parnas that he met with Nunes in Vienna last December, the Washington Post reports. Parnas is a Soviet-born associate of Rudy Giuliani, President Trump's personal lawyer; Parnas been indicted on campaign finance violations. The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Adam Smith, called it "quite likely" that Nunes will face an investigation. In an interview with Breitbart, Nunes threatened in response to sue news outlets over the "demonstrably false" accounts.
Nunes, the top Republican on the committee holding impeachment hearings, was investigated and cleared two years ago of giving classified information about the House probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election to the White House. Victor Shokin is the prosecutor removed for not doing enough against corruption; Republicans say Biden wanted him out so he wouldn't investigate Hunter Biden, who was on the board of a Ukrainian energy company. Giuliani said Saturday that he didn't think Nunes and Shokin met, per Politico. And if they had, he said, "there would have been nothing wrong" with that. (More Devin Nunes stories.)
