Dan Moldea, who has investigated and written about the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa for decades, has watched police dig for Hoffa's body in six places. This time, he thinks he knows where the body of the former Teamsters boss is buried, the Free Press reports. "I've never seen a lead this good," he said. Moldea thinks the body was put in a former New Jersey landfill called "Brother Moscato’s Dump." Hoffa disappeared from the parking lot of the Machus Red Fox restaurant in suburban Detroit in July 1975. No other tip about Hoffa's whereabouts "was even in the same universe as this," Moldea said.
Hoffa was killed in Detroit, Moldea said, per the Detroit News. His body was put in a 55-gallon drum and taken to New Jersey in a truck, he said. The new information comes from the son of a co-owner of the dump. The son signed an affidavit saying, among other things, that his father showed him where Hoffa's body was buried. A marker was left, Moldea said, so it should be easy to find. A spokeswoman said the Detroit FBI would search for the body if the information is deemed reliable. Moldea said there's renewed interest in the case because of the release of Martin Scorcese's film, The Irishman—which Moldea called "great filmmaking but bad history." He hope the attention will finally lead to the slaying being solved. (More Jimmy Hoffa stories.)
