Sara Lee got some free publicity on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, but probably not the kind it wanted. As a result, people are flooding the comments section of the company's Instagram account with raunchy, sex-themed comments and emojis. As Slate explains, the blame lies with this sketch. In it, Harry Styles plays a Sara Lee social media manager who mistakenly posts adult-themed comments and photos under the Sara Lee Desserts brand. Now people are posting the same comments, like "feeling really depressed after threesome" and "wreck me, daddy," on the company's products, like so.
The brand's parent company admits being initially thrown "for a bit of a loop" to HuffPost. "We didn't delete any comments but did temporarily hide them until we could read through and understand what happened," it says in a statement. "All comments are now visible, and we will be monitoring for any that violate Instagram standards." Sara Lee also clarifies to the New York Post that it didn't participate in coming up with the sketch. "But, we all know SNL pushes the envelope for laughs and we are taking it in stride."
