Prince Andrew has for the first time answered questions on his ties to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Queen Elizabeth II's second son sat down with the BBC on Thursday for a "no holds barred interview" that was the result of six months of negotiations with Buckingham Palace, reports the Guardian. The interview with BBC Newsnight's Emily Maitlis, recorded at Buckingham Palace, is to air Saturday evening in the UK, per the BBC.
Andrew previously denied knowledge of his billionaire friend's crimes, adding it was a "mistake" to socialize with Epstein after his conviction for solicitation of prostitution involving a minor. However, Virginia Giuffre claims she was underage when she was forced to have sex with the prince three times between 1999 and 2002. "He knows exactly what he's done and I hope he comes clean about it," Giuffre said in August, per the BBC. (More Prince Andrew stories.)
