Rob Drake's 20 years as an MLB umpire may now be in jeopardy after a tweet about the possible impeachment of President Trump. As in, he's clearly upset by the impeachment inquiry, evidenced by a post seen by ESPN that he put up late Tuesday (and has since taken down). The tweet noted he was ready to go out and pick up an AR-15 rifle "because if you impeach MY PRESIDENT this way, YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER CIVAL WAR!!! #MAGA2020." Drake had posted an earlier tweet regarding the same topic, though that one was more innocuous: "You can't do an impeachment inquiry from the basement of Capital Hill without even a vote! What is going on in this country?" The league got wind of the offending tweet and says it's now investigating, per Commissioner Rob Manfred.

The 50-year-old umpire, meanwhile, has deactivated his entire Twitter account, though the internet has continued having a field day with his misspelling of "civil," the tweet overall, and even his skills and possible bias behind the plate. Some are calling for his ouster. TMZ notes that while Drake may not have broken any laws, it's definitely a PR mess for the league, which now wants to "get in front of it." Per the Washington Post, it's the second non-game-related hubbub to hit MLB during playoffs season: Over the weekend, the assistant GM for the Houston Astros, Brandon Taubman, was accused by Sports Illustrated of "taunting" a group of female reporters with praise for player Roberto Osuna, who was suspended last year for breaching the league's domestic violence policy.
