Beto O'Rourke denounced gun violence in no uncertain terms after Saturday's mass shooting in his home state—and his campaign has now put those words on a T-shirt. The Democratic presidential candidate repeatedly described the massacre in Odessa, Texas, and the "epidemic of gun violence in America" as "fucked up," Politico reports. "One or two a day all over this country; 100 killed daily in the United States of America. We're averaging about 300 mass shootings a year. No other country comes close. So yes, this is fucked up," he told CNN, adding: "If we don’t call it out for what it is, if we're not able to speak clearly, if we’re not able to act decisively, then we will continue to have this kind of bloodshed in America, and I cannot accept that."

O'Rourke's campaign later tweeted an image of a T-shirt available in the campaign store, with the words "THIS IS F*CKED UP" printed six times above the slogan "End gun violence now," USA Today reports. The campaign said proceeds from T-shirt sales would be split between the Moms Demand Action and March for Our Lives anti-gun violence groups. In another tweet, the campaign defended the use of profanity, saying "if you're angrier about a swear word than a baby being shot in the face, consider your choices." A 17-month-old girl was among 24 people injured in the Saturday mass shooting. At least seven people were killed. (More Beto O'Rourke 2020 stories.)
