Retired Player Begs NFL for Help With His 'Crazy' Head

Retired NFL fullback Le'Ron McClain needs to get his head checked. That's not our assessment: It's his. In a series of f-bomb-studded tweets on Saturday, McClain pleaded for the help that he says isn't coming for what he suggests is a brain issue related to his time with the league. Some of what he wrote:

• "I have to get my head checked. Playing fullback since high school. Its takes too f---ing much to do anything. My brain is f---ing tired.... @NFL i need some help with this shyt. Dark times and its showing. F---ing help me please!!
• "Need to tell my story of how my head is crazy and how football did it.... Please someone help me get this out the @NFL puts paperwork in out faces and thats it."

CNN reports McClain spent four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and another three with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers after playing for the University of Alabama. In another tweet, he suggested he'd be getting what he needed if he had played a more prominent position: "Watch how fast they come to aid if I was som3 QB or anything but no I was f---ing fullback." ESPN notes he sounded more positive later, tweeting, "Man had a moment but just know Imma fight this thing and block it like im blocking 60 Pwr on the goaline." But he was more dour on Monday: "Nights like this are the worst..... I cannot sleep... My anxiety is up... real talk im a f---ing mess. Like whats wrong with me man." USA Today reports the league's settlement of a class-action suit from players over head injuries has seen claimants walk with an average of $564,447 per claim, but it didn't have details on whether McClain was part of that settlement.
