Two days before killing himself in his jail cell, Jeffrey Epstein signed a new will. The document, which was obtained by the New York Post, was filed Aug. 8 in the US Virgin Islands; Epstein hanged himself Aug. 10. The will lists assets of close to $600 million. His brother Mark is listed as the only potential heir, but no information about the beneficiaries was available. The 21-page will was filed in court in St. Thomas, possibly to reduce the chances of it being publicized, per the Post. The convicted sexual abuser already had a will, and it's not clear that the new one will trump that. He placed his assets in a trust.
In New York on Monday, prosecutors asked a judge to officially toss the charges in the sex trafficking case against Epstein, per CNBC, but indicated the investigations will go on. The US attorney wrote to the judge that the prosecution "remains committed to doing its utmost to stand up for the victims who have already come forward, as well as for the many others who have yet to do so."
