An American hiking with his fianceé on the Spanish island of Ibiza was killed when he fell off a cliff, plunging more than 80 feet. Dr. Daniel Sirovich, 33, and Kristi Kelly were sightseeing last week near a cliff in the southwestern part of the island, in Sa Pedrera de Cala d’Hort, People reports. Sirovich was finishing a residency in Miami and was to start a new job in Boston. His fianceé is studying to become a physician assistant, per the New York Post. Her mother told the Staten Island Advance that they were going to a music festival in England, but headed to Spain when the festival was rained out.

Kelly's mother first said Sirovich slipped trying to take a photo, but she's since retracted that. The couple planned to marry next year. "They studied together, they lived together, they traveled the world together, and their whole goal was to heal people," she said, adding that her daughter is devastated. "It's a horrible end to a beautiful romance," she said. (More US tourist killed stories.)
