Team Mitch had another Twitter glitch. The Louisville Courier Journal reports the @Team_Mitch account was put in "Twitter jail" after the campaign posted a video of an expletive-filled protest outside of McConnell's Louisville home. The Monday night protest involved, among others, local Black Lives Matter leader Chanelle Helm, who in a live video said McConnell "should have broken his little raggedy, wrinkled-[expletive] neck" instead of his shoulder in a recent fall. McConnell's campaign manager, Kevin Golden, tells the Hill the account was locked Wednesday morning "for posting the video of real-world, violent threats" made against his boss. "Twitter will allow the words ... 'Massacre Mitch' to trend nationally on their platform but locks our account for posting actual threats against us," he complained.
A Twitter rep explains "the user was temporarily locked out of their account for a Tweet that violated our violent threats policy, specifically threats involving physical safety." The platform's rules mandate that a tweet "may not threaten violence against an individual or a group of people." The account is once again live. One person who's not sorry in all of this is Helm. "McConnell doesn't care about people who actually do break their necks, who need insulin, who need any type of medication, because they want to stop and prevent health care for all," she tells the Courier Journal.
