A 9-year-old girl who died Friday after a bounce house accident has been honored at a Reno hospital for her organ donations. Hundreds of hospital employees, family members, and friends lined the halls for the honor walk, the Gazette Journal reports, as the body of Lizzy Hammond was taken from her hospital room to an operating room. The hospital has held honor walks for other organ donors, a spokesperson said, but they were more private. Lizzy's family said she volunteered to feed the homeless and assemble care packages for troops deployed overseas. She was "a beautiful, intelligent, silly, vibrant little girl who was full of life," her family said in a statement.
Lizzy and two other children were injured last weekend when winds picked up the inflatable bounce house they were playing in and knocked it into power lines. The other children's injuries were minor, per People. Sheriff's deputies and firefighters got the children out of the bounce house after the power to the area was turned off. The sheriff's department said the accident is being investigated. Saying that Lizzy would have wanted to "give this gift of life to others," her family said her organ donation could help more than 100 children: "We believe that her beautiful spirit will carry on within the individuals that she helps."
