A tragic story out of Louisville, Kentucky, where a father died in the very hospital where his newborn twins were being cared for. The Courier Journal reports Tyrese Garvin went to visit the roughly week-old twins, who had arrived prematurely, at the University of Louisville Hospital last Sunday. After leaving the hospital, the 20-year-old was shot multiple times while walking in the Smoketown neighborhood around 6pm, reports WAVE3.
On Friday afternoon he was taken off life support. A rep for the family says Garvin's son and daughter were placed next to him in the ICU during the last moments of his life. Garvin was a "random" victim, per the rep, who says Garvin had just gotten a job with GE. Three teens have been arrested in the shooting. WLKY reports Garvin's death marks the 48th homicide in Louisville this year. A GoFundMe campaign started in his name has raised more than $18,000. (More murder stories.)
