Fierce New Visa Rules Kick In

Know anyone seeking a US visa? Now they'll have to submit their social-media information, email addresses, and past phone numbers in order to apply, CBS News reports. The new State Department rules, proposed last March, are expected to affect some 14 million non-immigrant visa applicants and 710,000 immigrant visa applicants. Such intensive scrutiny was previously imposed only on certain applicants, like those who had traveled in terrorist-dominated regions, per the AP, which calls the latest move "a vast expansion" of Trump's "enhanced screening of potential immigrants and visitors." Among the social-media platforms listed on the application list are Twitter, YouTube, and, of course, Facebook. (Trump recently pushed for more immigrant labor in America.)
